Indian philosophical wisdom
The Shanmata (denominations) and the Darshanas (philosophies) represent two facets of Hinduism: one emphasizing worship and devotion (the six denominations), and the other emphasizing intellectual inquiry and systematic thought (the six philosophies).
The six major denominations or traditions of worship, known as the Shanmata (Six Opinions/Paths), primarily systematized by the philosopher Adi Shankara. These focus on the worship of a specific supreme deity:
